New Zealand Family Owned & Operated Since 2018

Our family has been living & farming in the Mackenzie high country since 1928 and have owned and managed land since 1935. We farm a combined total of 50,000 acres of land split across Two Merino sheep stations, Mt Hay & Balmoral Stations.

Our farmland is home to 12,000 Merino Sheep, 600 Angus Beef Cattle, 30 Horses, and 15 Alpaca. We’ve dedicated ourselves to the goal of sustainable farming and are very proud to have reached the milestone of becoming a “carbon positive” farm and have achieved the highest possible grade in our most recent sustainability audit.

We have now opened access to our land for a variety of tourism operations, from a family friendly petting zoo & farm tours to bespoke fishing & hunting tours our aim is to provide visitors to Lake Tekapo the option to experience the High-Country adventure of their choice.

We began our tourism journey with the founding of Silver River Stargazing & Astrophotography Tours with the aim to offer a quality stargazing experience that was affordable to the average traveler.

We now offer 8 separate tourism activities and host a collection of different accommodation options in and around Lake Tekapo.

All of our activities follow the same value, offering a safe, enjoyable, authentic Kiwi experience.

We look forward to meeting you and welcoming you to our home.

We are proud to be a Living Wage Employer

This means the world to us. We are very proud to be the Mackenzie Region’s first accredited tourism operator to pay a living wage.

This is one of many steps we have taken to enable our team to live with dignity and be able to participate as active citizens in society.

We support the Tiaki Promise

In New Zealand we welcome manuhiri (guests) in the spirit of manaakitanga (respect, kindness and hospitality). Hear our call. Feel welcome.

We also present our visitors with a wero (challenge). This wero is a challenge and commitment to care for New Zealand. This wero is the Tiaki promise.

We encourage all visitors to pick up this wero. To follow the Tiaki Promise. To act as a guardian, protecting and preserving our home.
