New Zealand Family-Owned Lake Tekapo Tours Since 2018
Our family has been living and farming in the Mackenzie High Country since 1928, and we’ve proudly owned and managed land here since 1935. Today, we farm a combined 50,000 acres across two historic Merino sheep stations — Mt Hay and Balmoral.
Home to 12,000 Merino sheep, 600 Angus beef cattle, 30 horses, and 15 alpacas, our farm is more than just land — it’s our heritage. We’re deeply committed to sustainable practices, and we’re proud to be a carbon-positive farm, having earned the highest possible grade in our latest sustainability audit.
In 2018, we opened our gates to visitors by launching a range of Lake Tekapo tours designed to help others experience the magic of the high country. From a family-friendly petting zoo and guided farm tours to bespoke fishing, horse trekking, and hunting experiences, our goal is to offer every visitor their own slice of high-country adventure.
Our journey into tourism began with Silver River Stargazing & Astrophotography Tours, created to offer an affordable, high-quality stargazing experience in Lake Tekapo’s pristine dark skies.
We now host more than 10 unique tourism activities and a variety of accommodation options in and around Lake Tekapo — each one reflecting our values of authenticity, safety, and genuine Kiwi hospitality.
